Binah grew up in the Bay Area, and began taking belly dancing lessons when she turned 15. Feeling a deep connection to the dance form, she has not stopped since, advancing to a professional level through ten years of instruction and performance. Binah has studied with Shoshanna (Arcata 2004-2005), Judeen (Santa Barbara 1999-2002), Alexandra King (Santa Barbara 2001), Lynette (Emeryville 1998), Lee'a Aziz (Walnut Creek 1997) and Shukriya (Layfayette 1996), as well as taking numerous classes and workshops by other teachers  such as Amir Thaleb  (Argentina), Samir Abut (Argentina) and Dalia Carella (Middle Eastern Music and Dance Camp). Binah also enjoys taking classes in dance forms outside of the Middle Eastern tradition. Studying with numerous teachers has allowed Binah to develop her own unique dance style, but she dances primarily in the cabaret dance form. Binah loves choreographing, performing (solo and with a troupe), teaching and learning new styles and moves.

While living in Northern California (2004-2005) Binah was a part of Shoshanna's Ya Habibi Dance Company, contributing to the choreography repertoire of the troupe and performing with the troupe at various events including Rakkasah (2005). The troupe created a monthly bellydancing party called the ‘Cairo Cabaret’ which was a great place to try out unorthodox dance solos. Other previous bellydance experiences include performing in Troupe Esau for Ansuya’s Gypsy Sugar show in Ojai (2001), performances at El Morroco (Pleasant Hill), Marakkesh (San Francisco), Club Excelsior (San Francisco), weekly gigs at Persimmon Meditteranean Restaurant and Pasha (both in San Francsico), Shattuck Down Low (Berkeley), Earth Day Festival (UCSB 2001), an SF Jazz show at the Masonic Auditorium (San Francisco 2006), Earthdance (2006) as well as many other events and private parties.

To quote Nelson Mandela, “As we are liberated from fear, our presence automatically liberates others.” Binah believes in dancing as a form of freedom and self-expression. She focuses on feeling the music and having fun. “Starting belly dancing as an awkward teenager was an enormous positive influence for me. It gave me self-confidence and something to be passionate about. Last year I started a belly dancing class at the Eureka Teen Center to promote self-esteem and confidence in the young girls who came to my classes.” Binah was also contracted by the Gang Risk Intervention Program at Eureka High School to teach choreographies to at risk students who would then perform the choreographies at local multi-cultural events.  Binah was able to connect with the girls, act as a positive role-model and share her passion for dance and choreography. “It was awesome to actually talk to one of the girls’ mothers and hear her say that a year ago her daughter would have never gotten up in front of a group and danced, and now she is performing in front of the entire Eureka High School. It was obvious what a positive impact my class had on her and that makes me feel so proud and happy!”

Binah is now living in the Bay Area, teaching private lessons and performing at various events throughout California. She would love to dance at your event, so please contact her if you are interested. See the Booking/Contact page for more information.
